Check the accepted item type

Before taking an item to a collection point, ask whether the operator accepts a complete electronic device with an embedded battery. General battery collection guidance may not describe every item type.

Keep local requirements in view

Collection, transport and acceptance rules depend on location and the operator. Use local instructions for the actual handover; a general article cannot confirm that a particular location will accept an item.

Do not dismantle a device to sort it

Seek instructions from the collection operator rather than forcing apart, crushing or puncturing the device. Ask for specific directions if an item is damaged.

Keep a handover record

Record the operator, date, accepted item type and any instructions provided. Public resources can explain the background; they are not an endorsement of a particular collection business.
